Some Thoughts...
Oh dear...
i'm getting the hang of this... and i can't seem to stop creating annoying messages..online or off...
oh well, just some musings... There are no constants in life but for 3 things: The Word of God, God, and the human soul. Well, may i be bold enough to state another constant: Hall Christian Fellowship attendence will always decline over time. We (leaders) are so contented with maintaining the numbers and are even resigned to the fact that losing members are part and parcel of hall ministry. It's no longer a question of how many more, but how many left.
the reasons are plenty: Lab reports deadline, Essays due, Concert, etc etc Not that they are not valid but i wonder if our priorities are correct. It seems that we choose to build our life around something and try to slot in time for God, fellowship with the Body, Bible studies in the spare time. If our purpose in life is to honor the Lord, are we showing it?
I struggle real hard with discipline and it is my weak spot. I look to instant gratification instead of stillness in the Lord many a times and am far far far from the solid mature God fearing Christian we all want to be.
We struggle with different things, and repentence begins with recognising and confessing our weaknesses to God. Even to the Body that we may encourage and pray for one another. i do hope you will keep me in your prayers.
With regards to priorities, may i challenge us to commit ourselves to the CG day (monday) amidst our choices of activities. This means that we build our time around meeting up as a body and seeking the Lord. It could be as simple as reflecting to the MM that you have to keep you monday nights free. It could be planning your working schedule such that your CG night will be free.
Whatever it is, i hope it doesn't sound like a shameless exhortation to come for CG by hook or by crook because i sincerely do not mean it that way. CG attendence is not what matters most. It is the heart, the life surrendered to God to be used specifically in hall and society which the Lord is pleased with.
Press on...
"Do all things without grumbling or questioning that you may be blameless and innocent, children of God without blemish in the midst of a crooked and twisted generation, among whom you shine as lights in the world, holding fast to the word of life, so that in the day of Christ i may be proud that i did not run in vain or labor in vain." Phil 2: 14-16
