because of the fact that i might be going to my family hometown, i could miss the first session. I'm sorry about this. However, here are some pointers to take note of when you look through the stipulated text, John 1:1-18
Yanchang will be leading the BS.

Some points to note:
- Recurring themes/words:
a) Word: Why is Jesus being equated to the “Word” ? Logos
b) Light: Arises on many instances. What is the significance of light? Phos (to shine or make manifest)
- There seems to be a contradiction between making a personal decision to receive (verse 12) and what is written in verse 13 (being born of God). This question might be brought up during CG. So be prepared. Note that the word “received” (v12) in the KJV lambano implies to take or to get hold of.
- Some questions may be raised regarding the nature of the relationship between God the Father and the Son. (ref v14) This is a little tricky. You might want to defer this question to a later session or talk about it outside CG time. Do not dally too long on the subject but also give some room for explanation. A lot of wisdom needed.
- (v16) What sort of blessings might the writer be talking about? Might want to clarify if asked. Refer to ESV : From His fullness, we have all received, grace upon grace.
These are by no means exhaustive. It was only what I figured non-Christians might ask. And of course, you will by no means have EVERY answer at your fingertips. It is okay to say I don’t know and promise to check it up later outside CG time. I’ve done it on numerous occasions.
Please remember to pray for your three friends and wisdom for YC.
Finally, do not go into a Calvinist/Armenian debate. Allow the non-Christians to voice their opinions. Lead them into a discussion.
Note: YC, u might want to do an ice breaker to create a more comfy environment. Something to preferably allow each other to know one another a little better.
