Contact Group Structure
Consider Christ Week was a success! Our friends loved the eggs that we gave out! Those who came for the talks/events were blessed, fed and entertained. Thanks to everyone who participated in spreading God's love to our hallmates :)
In other news:
Our mother organization, VCF, is currently going through a process of searching and trying to understand what our purpose for existing truly is. One of the areas we are looking at is what the purpose of CGs is, how we can fully utilize them to achieve our purpose, and if we can restructure CGs to more fully benefit members/people in NUS.
NB: CGs are the basic building block of the CF. Members have to belong to a CG in either their halls or facs before they can move on to greater things, like standing comms.
Again, feel free to air your views on why you joined VCF (or RHCF) and what changes you think should be made to make your Christian life a better one.
Personally, I think a change is due, because currently the burden is on the leaders to achieve goals that might not even be central to our purpose. The onus is on us to make sure that members attend, to do all the admin that an organization requires, and sometimes we get caught up in planning events (even CGs) that we forget why we are doing what we are doing.
I think the question of "Where are the members?" should be changed to "How can we involve the members more and impart our vision to them?" I believe that having a defined structure can allow us to accomplish this better. Members should be challenged from the outset to step out of their comfort zone once they have established it within the CF. If they can't commit, they should not be forced to. A few committed people will always be more powerful than a huge crowd with no desire or willingness to place God's work on campus first in their lives.
